Government urged to resolve exports' core issues

30 Dec, 2017

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the government to resolve the biggest issues faced by the export industry including delay in refunds and disparity in energy prices. The LCCI vice president Zeshan Khalil raised this demand while speaking at a meeting here Friday.
The issues like delay in refund claims and stuck-up duty drawback are hampering the exports' growth; thus these should be redressed at the earliest, he said. The process of refunds should not be so lengthy and complicated because as businessmen have to pay huge cost for getting their own money, he said and urged the Minister of State for Finance and Prime Minister's Advisor on Finance to take notice of this issue.
He said that disparity in energy prices within the country is a sheer injustice. As a result, the industries located in one part cannot compete with the industries located in other part of the country because of high input cost. There should be uniformity in the electricity and gas tariff for the industries across the country, he added.
