Five employees of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) were suspended over absence from duty here on Monday. The order came from Managing Director (MD) KW&SB Hashim Raza Zaidi a day after the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah paid a surprise visit of the board's northeast pumping station where he found poor security arrangements and absence of officials.
The CM expressed disenchantment over the situation and asked the MD water board to approach IG Sindh for police deployment at the sensitive installation besides taking disciplinary actions against the absentees. Accordingly, the MD ordered immediate suspension of five officials who were absent from their respective workplaces during the CM's visit.
The suspended employees are among a security supervisor, a machine operator two helpers and a plumber. They have been asked to report at HRD&A department. The MD also sent a letter to the Inspector General (IG) Sindh requesting him to provide officials to guard the sensitive installations of KW&SB.
