544 illegal structures demolished

Karachi Development Authority (KDA) claimed to have demolished some 544 constructions that were 'illegally' built on its land as well as on amenity plots in the metropolis during the last month. KDA officials said that the operation has been initiated in compliance with the Supreme Court (SC) orders. The apex court has directed KDA for removal of illegal constructions, and file compliance report within two months.
They said a total of 544 illegal constructions have been demolished that include 188 shops, 140 marriage hall, 144 houses, 58 boundary walls, 16 makeshift stalls, four godowns, offices, houses etc in December 2017. Expressing satisfaction over the performance, Director General (DG) KDA Samiuddin Siddiqui has directed the Estate and Enforcement Director to continue anti-encroachment operation till the recovery of the authority's property from mafias.
