Japan acknowledges efforts towards regional peace: ISPR

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono Thursday acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan's efforts regarding regional peace and stability. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Japanese Foreign Minister called on Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters.
The visiting dignitary was presented guard of honour. He laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs Monument.
The foreign minister was briefed about Pakistan's war on terror and contributions towards regional peace, said the ISPR. The Japanese foreign minister appreciated Pakistan's efforts towards eradicating terrorism and bringing peace and stability in the country.
Kono said that Japan looks forwards to enhancing its security cooperation with Pakistan, especially in the field of counterterrorism. He also dwelt on Japanese assistance for rehabilitation of temporarily displaced persons, and provision of scanning equipment for border crossing points. The CoAS thanked the foreign minister for his visit and acknowledgement of Pakistan's efforts towards regional peace and assistance in counterterrorism domain, the ISPR statement added.
