Crime rate rises in Islamabad

The incidents of burglary, robbery, snatching and vehicle theft showed an upward trend during the first week of 2018, last week in the federal capital despite tall claims of police regarding a number of initiatives taken to control the rising crime ratio in the metropolis. According to data gathered by Business Recorder, various police stations of the city registered 11 cases of theft, which include robbery, burglary and snatching at gunpoint, six cases of motor vehicle theft and two cases of abduction during the last week.
During the period under review, the most favourite areas for criminals were within the limits of Industrial Area, Golra, Sihala, Margalla and Karachi Company police stations. In the same period, Industrial Area police station registered two cases of car lifting and one case of snatching at gunpoint. Muhammad Shoaib filed a complaint with Industrial Area police station that two armed robbers snatched mobile phone from him at gunpoint.
Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number AD-743 of Muhammad Aamir Khan parked outside his residence at sector I-9/4 and also lifted another vehicle (LWJ-1411) of Muhammad Shafique from sector H-8. Golra police station registered one case each of armed robbery, abduction and rape. Liaqat Ali lodged a complaint with Golra police station that three armed persons snatched bike, bearing registration number ALN-645, a mobile phone and cash from him at gunpoint.
Another Tariq Ali lodged a complaint with Golra police station that accused Irshad and others raped his wife. Similarly, Muhammad Ishtiaq informed Golra police station that Muhammad Fahim and two unknown persons kidnapped his daughter. Lohi Bher police station registered one case each of burglary and auto theft. Mushtaq Hussain lodged a complaint with Lohi Bher police station accusing Farzana of stealing cash and gold ornaments from his house. Auto thieves stole a bike (KPP-090) of Muhammad Awais from the limits of the same police station.
During the last week, Margalla police station registered one case each of purse snatching and dacoity. Muhammad Ali informed Margalla police station that unknown motorbike rider stanched purse from his wife at F-8 Markaz containing cash and mobile phone. Another Humain Kashif of sector F-8/4 lodged a complaint with Margalla police station that unknown robbers stole his car bearing registration number LB-131, a laptop, and a mobile phone from his house.
During the last week, Sihala police station registered one case each of robbery and kidnapping. Bilal bin Habib lodged a compliant with Sihala police station that unknown burglars stole cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from his house at DHA Phase-II. Another Imran Zafar informed Sihala police station that unknown persons kidnapped his brother Ali Usman Zafar. Karachi Company police station registered one case each of robbery and burglary.
