India and its media have no plausible response to the new video in which Kulbushan Jadhav says his mother returned 'very satisfied'. Jadhav has accused the Indian government of threatening and harassing his mother and wife when they met him last month.
"Basically, today my mother came over, and I am thankful to the Government of Pakistan for showing this grand gesture and allowing this meeting. It was a very pleasant one and my mother was, basically, very happy to see me in a good state and my physical fitness," Jadhav has said in the video.
How unfortunate it is that India has responded to Jadhav's meeting with his mother and wife in manner that has been challenged, among others, by one of its own newspapers. It is about time India revisit its narrative in relation to the Jadhav case. New Delhi must not lose sight of the fact that even its billions of lies have become powerless in front of Jadhav's one calm truth. It must answer why its diplomat harassed and threatened Jadhav's mother and wife. It must also explain why it forced a newspaper to retract a story about Jadhav.
