PPP activist and MPA Ziaullah Afridi on Monday submitted a resolution in the provincial assembly seeking detailed audit of certain public sector entities including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission (KPEC). The resolution stated that every year the provincial departments were subjected to crucial annual audit whereas no audit had been conducted of the departments including KP Ehtesab Commission, KP Oil & Gas Development Authority, Right to Information, Provincial RTS Commission and TEVTA for the last four years.
Ziaullah Afridi was elected on PTI ticket from PK-1 Peshawar city and was arrested by the KP Ehtesab Commission. However, allegations made against him were not proved and was released by the court. He has now joined PPP. The resolution said that it clearly spoke of the irregularities in these departments by KP government.
The resolution further alleged that massive corruption of billions of rupees had been committed in these departments. Under article 170 of the constitution and section 20 of KPEC the annual audit report of these departments should be made public, however, the KP government using delaying tactics in this regard, terming it unjust, it said.
