Pakistan on Saturday took strong notice of Indian Army Chief's threatening statement, making it clear that it is fully capable of defending itself against any misadventure based on miscalculation. Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said in a tweet that it was very irresponsible statement by Indian Army Chief, not befitting his office and amounted to invitation for nuclear encounter.
"If that is what they desire, they are welcome to test our resolve. The general's doubt would swiftly be removed, insha Allah," he tweeted. Foreign Office also reacted sharply to the Indian Army Chief's threatening statement, describing it as irresponsible. Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said in a tweet that threatening and irresponsible statement by the Indian Army Chief represented a sinister mindset that had taken hold of India. He said Pakistan has demonstrated deterrence capability.
"These are not issues to be taken lightly. There must not be any misadventure based on miscalculation. Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself," the spokesperson said in another tweet. India's Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, in a provocative statement on Friday, said: "the force is ready to call Pakistan's 'nuclear bluff' and cross the border to carry out any operation if asked by the government."
