MQM-L's Dr Arif found dead

Body of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) leader Professor Dr Hasan Zafar Arif was recovered from a car's back seat in Ibrahim Hyderi area, here on Sunday. The body was identified due to identity card of the elderly retired professor Hassan Arif. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
Executive Director JPMC Seemin Jamali informed media that the professor's body was brought to the hospital's emergency department where doctors pronounced him dead. However, she said it would be too early to say anything about the cause of death.
"The ultimate cause of death will be ascertained in light of post-mortem report. The body does not bear any marks of torture or bullet wounds," she said. Dr Arif was a former professor at the Karachi University's Philosophy Department. He was a resident of DHA Phase VI. Police confirmed the identity of body as 70-year-old Dr Hasan Zafar Arif who was deputy convenor of Altaf-led MQM London. ASI Amir Hussain said that police found the body on the back seat of a car where police reached upon information about the corpse. Hassan's relatives are also being questioned as police began investigating the case. Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Sattar of MQM-Pakistan said they stand with the family of the deceased professor. Talking to the media, he said that "Hassan Arif's murder is a conspiracy to destroy peace of Karachi." Hassan Arif had gone missing, the other day.
