The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) will organize "Punjab Business Symposium" today (Tuesday). The symposium is aimed at highlighting the business community's concerns and opinions which would be submitted to the government along with suggestions for their redressal.
FPCCI Vice President & Regional Chairman Ch Arfan Yousaf expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) here at the FPCCI regional office. A large number of business elites including executive committee members, general bodies and leading businessmen are expected to attend the event.
He was of the view that the government and the business community should jointly evolve policies for the betterment of the country as the cost of business and trade has become serious concern for the businessmen. Efforts should be made to encourage foreign investment besides promotion of exports and acceleration of economic activities in the country, he added.
The issues including tax, regulatory duty, customs, smuggling refund and rebate, starting business and high cost of business would be discussed at the symposium, he said.
He also welcomed the Prime Minister's decision for one-time tax amnesty scheme to bring back the offshore wealth into the country. Pakistanis have invested in Middle East, Far Eastern Countries, Western Europe and offshore companies, while net inflow of investment is declining in the country. Several countries have introduced one-time amnesty scheme to accelerate the economic growth through production and utilization of hidden liquid assets. Ch Arfan Yousaf said that FDI's inflow is directly associated with the investment trend by the local people that gives confidence to the foreign investors.
