President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said Spain was an important European country with which Pakistan was keen to enhance its relations in different fields and stressed for further increase in bilateral trade and cultural links between the two countries.
The President was talking to Ambassador-designate to Spain Khayyam Akbar, who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. He underscored that Spain's experiences in the field of agriculture and engineering should be utilized as the economy of both countries could benefit from it. He said that the authorities concerned of Spain should be contacted in that regard.
The President also called to enhance bilateral cooperation in defence production. He said there should be frequent exchange of delegations of investors and industrialists between the two countries so that business community of both countries could explore more opportunities of business and investment.
He emphasized that Pakistani diplomats should enhance their contacts to increase the bilateral trade. He also directed the ambassador-designate to ensure the welfare and resolution of the problems of Pakistani community residing in various parts of Spain.
