Record sale of motorcycles in first half

The production and sale of motorcycles and three wheelers achieved new heights in the first half of FY 2017-18 as data of 13 manufacturing units showed that a total of 940,825 motorcycles and three-wheelers were sold from 1st July till 31st December 2017 a 19 percent increase over the corresponding period of last year. It may be added that motorcycle is the means of transport of lower income group families as it could be purchased within the range of Rs 40,000 and Rs 63,000 per piece. It is cheaper to run; easier to repair and park; can stop anywhere; more flexible in traffic.
The most popular brand Honda motorcycle remained the market leader with the six monthly sale of 5,45,018 against last year's sale of 4,58,095 pieces followed by United Auto's sale of 1,98,245 bikes and Road Price's sale of 1,18239 bikes. Demand of 1000 cc cars increased from the customers working with Careem, Uber and other transportation businesses. Sale of Suzuki Wagon doubled in six months from 7,565 to 14,141. Millat Tractor Ltd achieved its target of sale of 20,000 tractors during this period.
