Pakistan Customs, as member of global Customs fraternity under the auspices of World Customs Organization (WCO), plays a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of international trade originating from, coming to or passing through Pakistan. The department facilitates cross-border movement of goods while preventing the contraband, and enforcing the restrictions imposed by the government. Facilitation is extended not only to the importers or exporters but also other stake holders partaking in the process of the entire international supply chain.
This year the theme of International Customs Day is "Security of the Business Environment", aptly manifests common global concern for security and safety. It is evident that all the stakeholders must be aware of the significance of this theme for practice and for sharing common good, notwithstanding certain additional price tag associated with measures of such safety and security. Not only the safety of people is paramount importance but also it is an imperative for safeguarding the protection of the patent rights of the manufacturers. A secure and business friendly environment, thus, leads to enhancement and sharing of dividends of economic progress of the comity of nations.
