The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party has approved Rs 5400 million for two mega projects of Health department to control spread of diseases and provide better medical facilities to the people. These schemes were approved in the PPDWP's 49th meeting of current fiscal year presided over by Chairman P&D Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan.
Secretary and all P&D provincial secretaries and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting. The development forum approved Rs 3149 million for establishment of Punjab Public Health Agency (PPHA) that will play an effective role for improving public health, effective disease control, preparing of Disease Data Bank, planning according to the needs of public health and capacity building of experts. PPHA will also set up disease surveillance and response unit at provincial level.
The forum also approved upgradation of Radiology/ Specialties Departments in Services Hospital, Lahore at the cost of Rs 2252.029 million, procurement of Automated Finger Print Identification System (AFIS) for Punjab Forensic Science Agency, Lahore at the cost of Rs 495 million, construction of 09 No Stone Studs to protect Village Abadies (Manjotha, Sewage, Sasti and Sangi) from flood flows of Sanghar Hill Torrent at the cost of Rs 68.932 million and construction of diversion structures on River Jhelum near Gaga Village Tehsil Bhera, Sargodha at the cost of Rs 14.855 million.
