Blockage of roads: LHC seeks reply from Punjab government, IGP

The Lahore High Court on Thursday sought reply from Punjab government and Inspector General Police Punjab on a petition challenging blockage of roads outside the residence of Nawaz Sharif in Jati Umra and CCPO office.
The petitioner Judicial Activism Panel through its counsel Azhar Siddique argued that several roads had been blocked in the city including the ones that fall in front of Qurban Line, Punjab Chief Minister's camp offices, IGP office and road that falls in front of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's residence in Jati Umra.
He said that blockage of roads was violation of Article 15 of the Constitution. He said despite disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court but the road in front of his house in Jati Umra was not opened for the public.He asked the court to direct the police to remove barriers and hurdles on the roads and open for the public.
He also asked the court to order the government to provide details of expenditures on security of no go areas in the city and Punjab Chief Minister's camp offices.
