Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Saturday that Nawaz Sharif was the biggest supporter of PCO judges. "Wasn't Justice Iftikhar Ch a PCO judge?" he posed a question while talking to media after attending a prayer ceremony for the departed soul of Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani.
He criticized former premier Nawaz Sharif for his anti-judiciary campaign, asking that why Nawaz Sharif isn't bringing judicial reforms while having a government in the centre. He also claimed that 20 percent of Charter of Democracy remained unattended due to Nawaz Sharif. He said Nawaz Sharif was behaving like an opposition leader despite the fact that his party is in power. "His intentions are seemingly not positive," he warned. "The PML-N is carrying out anti-judiciary movement in order to put judges under pressure."
He predicted that Adiala Jail would be the ultimate destination of Nawaz Sharif. "He is facing the situation out of his adventurism," he emphasized. He disagreed with the impression that the PML-N government in Punjab may be in hot waters in future. "I don't see any big change here in Punjab despite the fact that the PML-N leadership was striving for a crisis-like situation," he opined.
He told media persons that the PPP had not formed alliance with any political party for Senate elections in Punjab. He said the courts have always dealt with Nawaz Sharif softly. "The PPP had faced a strong judiciary in the past. The courts should ensure equal rights to every citizen in Pakistan. Our party should also be treated equally by the courts of law," he added. Kaira also pointed out that judges should avoid media as no one can be advocate for the courts.
