PTI, PML-Q agree to jointly contest Senate election

Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League -Q have agreed to jointly contest the up-coming Senate election in the Punjab Assembly for two out of eleven vacant seats. A delegation headed by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmud Qureshi called on Pakistan Muslim League-Q President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain and senior central leader and former Chief Minister Punjab Ch Parvez Elahi at their residence here on Sunday.
They formed an eight-member committee four each from both parties for victory of Senator Kamil Ali Agha and Ch Sarwar in the Senate election from Punjab. They further agreed to move in future with consultation and evolve political strategy through mutual consultation.
PTI delegation included Ch Sarwar, Shafqat Mahmud, Mian Mahmudur Rasheed and Mian Hamid Meraj whereas during the meeting PML-Q leaders Tariq Bashir Cheema, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Ch Zaheeruddin, Aamir Sultan Cheema, Ahmad Shah Khagga, Vickas Mokal, Khadeeja Farooqui, Dr Azeemuddin Zahid Lukhvi and Shafay Hussain were also present.
Talking to media Ch Parvez Elahi said that Insha-Allah for the Senate PML- Q candidate Senator Kamil Agha and PTI's Ch Sarwar both will be successful. Expressing gratitude to PTI leaders, he said we will jointly contest this election for which strategy will be evolved.
On a question, he said that Jamaat-i-Islami is supporting our candidate, on another question he said the judiciary and the army both are respectable institutions and their prestige should be respected. Shah Mahmud Qureshi said every body knows ideal and brighter political traditions, sagacity, tolerance and balanced living of the family of Ch Shujaat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi.
Ch Parvez Elahi and I have done politics together, during his government in Punjab he had undertaken immense works for the welfare and well-being of people without any discrimination and he was generous to every one. He expressed the hope that both the parties through best and joint political strategy can secure better results in Punjab, we will continue consultation in future on other matters as well and evolve better strategy through mutual consultation. Praising PML-Q leaders' political sagacity, he said that they and we have better understanding of politics of Punjab.
