Punjab PA passes resolution: MPAs express solidarity with Kashmiri cause, urge UN to play its role

The Punjab Assembly on Monday showed its solidarity with the Kashmiri people by unanimously passing a resolution, demanding that United Nation resolution on Kashmir should be implemented in its letter and spirit. The House reiterated the principle stand of independence of held Jamu and Kashmir from the Indian subjugation.
The session started one hour and 25 minutes late under the chair of Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal. The House also demanded that the Kashmiris should be given the right to self determination. The Indian forces should stop committing atrocities on innocent people of Kashmir and India should withdraw its forces from the held Kashmir.
The House also demanded that the federal government should continue its support to Kashmiri at political, moral and diplomatic levels. The resolution also urged the international community to play its role in ensuring right to self determination to the Kashmiris. The House also assured the Kashmiri brethren to stand by them in their efforts till achievement of their goal.
Speaking on this occasion, PTI MPA Sabtain Khan said the record of National Assembly's Kashmir Committee should be checked that how many times the committee visited foreign countries to highlight the issue. He demanded that both the federal and Punjab governments should include struggle of Kashmiri people in the syllabus.
PTI MPA Sadia Sohail Rana demanded that the Chairman Kashmir committee should resign as it had failed to highlight the issue at international level. JI MPA Dr Waseem Akhtar said there should be no trade with India until Kashmir issue is solved according to the UN resoloutions of 1948. He also demanded that there should be a complete ban on screening of Indian films in the country.
PML-N MPA Rana Arshad Chaudhry Iqbal said that their party will continue its support to Kashmiri people. They also said PML-N President Nawaz Sharif always highlighted the issue of Kashmir on all forums.
