Emir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl), Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that he will take the issue of Mehsud to its logical end and fight for the rights of the people of Federal Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) at all the forums. "Our elders have taught us to be on the side of innocent people. Tribal people are the backbone of Pakistan's defense, we are always with them. We are out if it's Rao Anwar or anyone else we can't let them kill innocent people," Maulana Fazlur Rehman said while addressing the participants of the sit-in protest of FATA people who are demanding justice for Naqibullah Mehsud, who was killed in a fake police encounter.
Fazl said that the murder of Mehsud is a symbol, adding that he had asked earlier if it was a war against Mehsuds or against terrorists. He said that the war is imposed on Pashtuns wherein thousands of Naqibullahs are killed in fake encounters, if here are courts why they are not brought before the courts, he asked. "I am standing and becoming your lawyer. I would endorse every point of your agenda and go to every forum for this," Fazlur Rehman said. Earlier in the day, a delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led by Amir Fida Paracha faced wrath of the protesters while addressing the participants of the sit-in here on Monday as the protestors hurled shoes and bottles at the PPP leaders. Angry protesters hurled shoes and empty bottles when Paracha started praising Asif Ali Zardari. The situation forced him to quickly leave the stage. Suspended SSP Rao Anwar, who is wanted to police for extrajudicial killing of Naqibullah Mehsud in Karachi, is considered to be very close to Zardari.
