LHC restrains SECP from harassing PTI leader

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday restrained Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) from extending any harassment to a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Aleem Khan pertaining to his housing societies. The court also issued notices to other respondents including NAB, FIA and LDA for March 17 and referred petition to another bench which already seized similar petitions.
Aleem Khan had challenged notices issued by the SECP to his housing schemes including Parkview Villas.
Earlier his counsel pointed out that the Supreme Court hearing a case had ordered the SECP to carry out forensic audit of all housing societies. The SCEP, he said, in compliance with the apex court's direction issued notices to the petitioner's housing projects as well.
The counsel said the petitioner furnished complete record of his lawful housing schemes to the SECP and all other concerned departments. However, he said, the SECP continued to harass the petitioner on one pretext or the other and initiated an inquiry against him.
He asked the court to stop the respondent commission from carrying out any inquiry against the petitioner and extending harassment to him.
