The military's top brass on Wednesday reiterated that any Indian misadventure including the ceasefire violations will be responded effectively. The Corps Commanders Conference, chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, said that ceasefire violations by Pakistan's eastern neighbour are detrimental to peace in the region.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military media wing, further said that the military leadership also reviewed the geo-strategic and security environment, especially in the context of the US policy for the region. Progress on the ongoing operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was discussed and the forum reiterated that gains of the yearlong counterterrorism efforts will be consolidated to achieve enduring peace and stability both for Pakistan and the region.
The meeting concluded that national interest will be kept at the premium while cooperating with all other stakeholders for regional peace and stability. According to the latest data of the Foreign Ministry, the Indian forces have carried out more than 190 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary in 2018, resulting in the deaths of 13 innocent civilians and injuries to 65 others.
It said the unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India has been continuing since the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1,970 ceasefire violations in a single year.
