Railways plans to plant 1.15 million trees across country

Pakistan Railways (PR) has planned to plant as many as 1.15 million trees around tracks, stations, platforms, loco sheds etc across the country. The Railways officials said the plantation move is primarily aimed at enhancing beautification within the PR's jurisdiction and to curb the environmental pollution.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Railways Muhammad Javed Anwar, through a letter, has directed all Divisional Superintends, Managing Directors, and Divisional Engineers to develop section-wise plan for the plantation.
PR would take professional consultation from the agriculture department's field officers to plant seasonal trees to get better results from the drive. He also directed the officials concerned to personally monitor the campaign to make it successful in a transparent manner.
