08 Feb, 2018

The Senate Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution against India for committing atrocities in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) and suppression of Kashmiris. The committee which met here with Senator Sajid Mir discussed the Indian atrocities on innocent Kashmiris who are fighting for their right to self-determination, saying Pakistanis will always stand by their Kashmiri brethren.
The resolution which was moved by Senator Rehman Malik of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) deplored the international community for its silence. Malik also presented a charge-sheet against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the brutalities which Indian forces are committing in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK). "All these atrocities are being committed under Modi's command so the UN secretary general should take notice of human rights violations in Held-Kashmir and refer the case to International Criminal Court (ICC)," said the resolution.
"I appeal from this forum to the High Commissioner for Human Rights, United Nations, to constitute a high-powered commission to visit Indian-held Kashmir to investigate the human rights violations there," said Malik. The resolution also condemned the nexus of Indian RAW, RSS and Daesh against Kashmiris, and demanded the government of Pakistan to depute the attorney general to move against PM Narendra Modi in the International Criminal Court against human rights violations and crimes against humanity carried out by Indian forces.
Secretary Kashmir Liberation Cell Muhammad Idrees Abbas briefed the committee about Indian atrocities against innocent Kashmiris, and said 100,000 Kashmiris have embraced martyrdom since 1989. Over "1.44 million Kashmiris have been arrested by India, 1,007,000 children are left orphaned, 11,000 women are raped, and 18 million houses and other properties have been destroyed," he added.
The committee also condemned unprovoked firing by Indian troops across Line of Control (LoC). Declaring Kashmir a jugular vein of Pakistan, the committee said that India by targeting innocent civilian on the LoC is trying to divert the attention of world community from the deteriorating human rights situation in the Held Valley. It said that such coward acts cannot deter people of Azad Kashmir from raising voice for their brethren in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It stressed the need for resolving Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions and wishes of Kashmiri people.
