Sindh Minister for Information, Labour and Transport, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, assured the newly-elected body and members of governing of the Karachi Press Club Thursday that all their genuine matters and issues would be resolved on priority basis.
He made this assurance during his visit to the KPC. He was accompanied by Secretary Information Imran Atta Soomro, Secretary Transport Saeed Ahmed Awan and Director Information Dr Muizzuddin Pirzada. Secretary Information told the KPC office bearers that the Health Card for Journalists would be finalized in couple of days as per the commitment of the PPP and its government especially the commitment of Syed Nasir Hussain Shah that he made to journalists since he became the Information Minister.
KPC president Ahmed Khan Malik and secretary Maqsood Ahmed Yousufi and other office bearers welcomed them. The Minister presented bouquets to the President KPC Ahmed Khan Malik and Secretary Maqsood Ahmed Yousufi, respectively. He remained with them for some time and congratulated them over their election. The KPC secretary Maqsood Yousufi introduced the office bearers and members of governing body and briefed him on the democratic process and trends being pursued by the Press Club.
The members of KPC governing body Saeed Sarbazi, Arif Hashmi, Abul Hassan, Kafeeluddin Faizan and Naeem Suhootra and senior journalists including Qamar Rizvi, Sajid Aziz, Muniruddin, Syed Athar Hussain, Hamidur Rehman, Mazher Rizvi, Waqar Bhatti and others, were also present.
Yousufi lauded that PPP always supported the cause and struggle of journalist community to strengthen the journalists' organization, bodies and democratic trends in the journalists. He hoped PPP would continue to do so. Sindh Information Minister Nasir Shah vowed that PPP and its government would continue to safeguard the rights of journalists and positive role of media in democratic process. Assuring that all their genuine matters and issues would be resolved on priority basis, he said, needed work on remaining matters would also be expedited with their support and cooperation.
The Minister also assured that the matters relating to residential schemes, grant, etc., would also be resolved on priority and in this regard, a joint meeting would be arranged with Sindh Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro very soon to settle the issue on priority. The office bearers and members of KPC governing body thanked PPP and the Sindh government to continue the support and help to journalist community and hoped that all issues relating to journalists would be resolved.
