Government of Sindh has decided that academic session of the schools, colleges and Cambridge O and A level would commence from 1st April, in Sindh. The decision has been made in Steering Committee on Education presided over by Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar. It was also decided that the students from class 1 to III would be promoted to next class on the basis of the performance and assessment. Examinations up to class VIII will be completed by 10th March and result will be announced by 31st March.
Theory exams of class IX and X shall commence from 29th March and their results will be announced by 15th July by all Boards of Sindh and the Board of Secondary Education Karachi will announce the result by 31st July. Examinations of XI and XII will commence from 24th April and XII result will be announced by all Boards except Karachi by 31st August while Karachi Board would announce by 15th September. Non-teaching staff will not be assigned invigilation duties in schools and colleges.
It was decided too that summer vacation will be observed from 1st June to 31st July while winter vacation will be observed from 22nd December to 31st December. Secretary Colleges Pervaiz Ahmed Seehar while briefing the meeting emphasised upon them to take all possible steps to curb cheating in exams and create awareness among all stakeholders including parents, teachers, and students regarding drastic effects of cheating in exams.
It was decided that monitoring teams would be formed to stop cheating in examinations The teachers will be bound to perform exams duties .Violators will be dealt strictly .It was also considered that to encourage teachers for exam duties their packages will be enhanced. All educational institutions will celebrate a week for sports. Concluding the meeting the minister for education Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar asked them to play their positive role in curbing unfair means in the examinations and improve education in Sindh while Secretary colleges assured them his full co-operation in implementing the policies.
Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that all stakeholders have to work on same page to eradicate cheating in examinations and to improve education in the province and this is the only way that we can save our future generation from total destruction. Secretary Colleges Pervaiz Ahmed Seehar, Special Secretary Education Schools Nasir Abbas, chairmen of all educational boards, Director General Private Institutions, representatives of private institutions, officers and educationists attended the meeting.
