USC sets up quality assurance wing

The new strategy evolved for Utility Stores to harmonize its timing requirements. Quality assurance department has been established in the institution to improve the quality of food items. According to the details, the Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan has devised new policies, along with its re-organization to make the organization compatible with contemporary requirements and make it a profitable institution.
The aim of these policies and strategies is to ensure the institutionalization as well as to provide high quality items to the consumers at the lowest prices. Executive Board meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mathar Niaz Rana, Managing Director, Utility Stores Corporation in which the senior management was also present.
Quality Assurance Wing has been established in Utility Stores to ensure quality. General Manager Quality Assurance has also been appointed in the Head Office. On the zonal level officers have been appointed for quality assurance. This wing will get the supplied goods tested from PSQCA and other laboratories.
The testing charges will be deducted from the amount payable to suppliers. It has also been decided that the brands which are not in accordance with the standards of Punjab Food Authority and are included in the Punjab Food Authority's hazardous list, sale of those items will be banned immediately, said a press release.-PR
