Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 181,992 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,188 tonnes of import cargo and 50,804 tonnes of export cargo including 7,602 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 131,188 tonnes comprised of 61,473 tonnes of containerised cargo; 565 tonnes of general cargo; 18,000 tonnes of coal and 51,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,804 tonnes comprised of 41,006 tonnes of containerised cargo; 832 tonnes of general cargo; 3,466 tonnes of wheat and 5,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,602 containers comprising of 4,148 containers import and 3,454 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,500 of 20's and 1,227 of 40's loaded while 82 of 20's and 56 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,156 of 20's and 378 of 40's loaded containers while 300 of 20's and 621 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Long Beach Trader, Navios Verano, Kota Lagu, Kota Kaya, Solt Sycamore, and BBC Rhine carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. MSC Kerry, Piraeus, Kota Layar, Hansa Neuburg, Whi Chi, SC Dalian, Everrich-3 and Bow Platinum carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 87,532 tonnes includes 21,800 tonnes of LNG; 35,354 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,485 tonnes of palm oil; 8,500 tonnes of coal; 2,362 tonnes of chemical and 18,031 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 53,882 tonnes includes 10,296 tonnes of cement and 43,586 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,243 containers comprising of 949 containers import and 2,294 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely MT Contantinos carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three ships namely CV MSC Heidi, CV Marie Delmas and MV YM Saturn carrying containers and chemical are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Heidi, CV Marie Delmas, CV Lowland Amster, MV Daranee Naree, MV Panorama, MV Secon-7, MV YM Saturn, MV British Emerald, MT Contantinos and MT Rainbow Island were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, cement, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV APL Antwerp, MV Amadeus, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Gas Esco, MT Quetta, MT Pitali Lady, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi, MT Red Eagle and MT Horizon carrying containers, soyabean seeds, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV APL Antwerp, CV Prosper, MV Secon-8, MT Gas Esco and MT Quetta carrying containers, steel coil, LPG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were three ships namely CV Prosper, CV APL Norway and MV Secon-8 carrying containers and steel coil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Virginia, CV Athenian and CV Hansa America carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
