Sale of milk at Sunday Bazaars: NA body for investigating matter

National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination here on Wednesday directed the Ministry of National Health to investigate the matter of sale of milk at Sunday Bazaars which is injurious to the health of children. The committee also considered the "The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan- (Amendment) Bill, 2017" (moved by Dr Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, MNA) in detail and rejected the bill. The committee recommended that ministry may investigate the matter of open milk being sold at Sunday Bazaars which is injurious to the health of children. The committee met here under the chairmanship of Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman Khan Drishak.
The committee considered Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) in detail and approved the same with some suggestions. The committee highlighted the loopholes in ongoing and new projects of the ministry for PSDP 2018-19 in reply of which, the ministry assured the committee that it will consider the suggestions in letter and spirit. National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services (NHS) also approved as many as 26 new projects worth of over Rs 15 billion. Projects have been places under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the years 2018-19. However committee, chaired by Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman Drishak, directed the ministry to remove all the loopholes in ongoing and new projects. Committee also directed that the ministry should ensure that the funds would be spent properly and there would not be any irregularity while spending on development projects. The committee considered the "HIV/AIDS (Safety and Control) Bill, 2013" (moved by Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, MNA) and after detailed deliberation recommended that the bill may be deferred till next meeting.
