The Karachi Port handled 121,078 tonnes of cargo comprising 81,709 tonnes of import cargo and 39,369 tonnes of export cargo including 6,107 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 81,709 tonnes comprised of 43,990 tonnes of containerised cargo; 35,500 tonnes of coal and 2,219 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,369 tonnes comprised of 32,876 tonnes of containerised cargo; 874 tonnes of bulk cargo; 387 tonnes of sugar; 3,444 tonnes of wheat and 1,788 tonnes of rice.
As many as 6,107 containers comprising of 2,889 containers import and 3,218 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,261 of 20's and 772 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 42 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 935 of 20's and 275 of 40's loaded containers while 307 of 20's and 713 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Kota Kamil, Ever Diamond, Pacific Horizon, Oriental Rose, Triton Swallow and Eternal Diligence carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. MOL Emerald, APL Austria, APL Hawaii, Hansa Neuburg, BW Cobalt, Glorious, Voyager and Da Zi Yun carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 101,986 tonnes includes 30,000 tonnes of LNG; 8,169 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,864 tonnes of palm oil; 15,000 tonnes of coal; 18,700 tonnes of canola seeds; 15,436 tonnes of general cargo and 28,253 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 55,853 tonnes includes 9,379 tonnes of rice and 46,474 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,933 containers comprising of 1,487 containers import and 2,446 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely CV CMA CGM Narmada carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV Priority carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV Priority, MV Genava, MV Marine Dream, MV Sakizaya Wisdom, MV Tiger Pioneer, MT Milana Qatar and MT Meltemi were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, steel coil, rice, coal, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV CMA CGM Georgia, MV Soho Trader, MV Zi Jiag Song, MV Othani, MV Christina-L, MV Caravas Liberty, MV Auro, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Red Eagle carrying containers, talcum powder, general cargo, chemical, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Georgia, CV Virgo, CV Torrente, CV GH Chinook and MV Caravas Liberty carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Friday.
There were eight ships namely CV Virgo, CV Torrente, CV GH Chinook, MV Sea Meray, MV Hong Kong, MV Prandowski, MV Zi Jing Song and MT African Macan carrying containers, rice, coal, general cargo and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV APL Hawaii, CV Nicoline Maersk and MT JO Pinari carrying containers and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
