He maintained that we had deployed about 2000 health and education department workers for anti-polio drive those had served in the 54 union councils of the district.
Dr. Usama Shabeer further said that we had formed 790 mobile teams comprising two persons each, 101 fix teams for the hospital with one member each and 34 transit team with two members each.
The three-day anti-polio vaccination campaign that started from 10th December and culminated with the set target of immunization of 216000 children in Abbottabad.
Keeping in view the security situation special measures were taken as the administration had also deployed police and elite force with the immunization teams.
Talking about the critical weather conditions Dr. Usama Shabeer said that despite the heavy rain and snowfall in the Galyat, our teams have finished their job and achieved the target in most of the areas while in Nathiagail, Khanuspur Ayubia and Nagri Bala we have postponed the drive as the roads were totally blocked by the heavy snowfall.
Replying to question about refusal to the vaccination teams he said that during the first day of the campaign 65 people refused where Anti-polio teams and the doctors in the respective areas convinced 40 of them and resolved the issue, on the second day 40 people refused but later on most of the people were convinced and their children were immunized, he said.
