Ukraine winter crops in good state

23 Mar, 2018

Most of Ukraine's winter grain crops were in a good or satisfactory condition as of March 18, analyst UkrAgroConsult said on Monday. UkrAgroConsult said in a report that 87.1 percent of crops were in a good or satisfactory condition while 12.9 percent of this year's crops were in a poor state.
Ukraine sowed 7.24 million hectares with winter grains, including 6.3 million hectares of wheat, 813,000 hectares of barley and 150,000 hectares of rye. UkrAgroConsult raised its forecast this month for Ukraine's 2018 wheat crop by 4.8 percent to 26.3 million tonnes, mostly due to a larger harvested area.
Winter wheat accounts for about 95 percent of Ukraine's overall wheat output. Ukraine harvested 61.3 million tonnes of grain in 2017.
