The Karachi Port handled 108,813 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,300 tonnes of import cargo and 29,513 tonnes of export cargo including 2,624 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 79,300 tonnes comprised of 22,200 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,623 tonnes of bulk cargo; 17,281 tonnes of coal and 35,196 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,513 tonnes comprised of 13,963 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,430 tonnes of wheat; 3,470 tonnes of wheat (gandum) and 1,650 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,624 containers comprising of 1,521 containers import and 1,103 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 589 of 20's and 426 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 38 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 468 of 20's and 93 of 40's loaded containers while 185 of 20's and 132 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Kota Kaya, Hamburg Bay, AC-D, Askholmen, Asphalt Ten, FLC Fortune and Shou Chen Shan carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, bitumen and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. KMTC Dubai, Kota Kaya, FPMC-21, Al Safa and Thorco Cygnus carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 143,646 tonnes comprising 109,902 tonnes of import cargo and 33,744 tonnes of export cargo including 3,408 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 109,902 tonnes includes 19,600 tonnes of LNG; 3,037 tonnes of LPG; 15,569 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,993 tonnes of palm kernel; 21,977 tonnes of coal; 8,500 tonnes of chemical; 115 tonnes of general cargo and 31,008 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 33,744 tonnes includes 33,744 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,408 containers comprising of 1,632 containers import and 1,776 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely CV APL Charleston and MT White Purl carrying containers and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MT Adam carrying LNG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Mataquito, CV APL Charleston, MV Parnasos, MV Makiki, MV YM Miranda, MT Adam, MT White Purl, MT Al-Dasma and MT African Macaw were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as thirteen ships namely MV Soho Trader, MV Madario Trader, MV Cherry Dream, MV Epic Sentosa, MV Linus-P, MV TVS Beach Wood, MV Nikolas-III, MV SBI Antaros, MV Maritime Setosnio, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Jo Pinari and MT Red Eagle carrying talcum powder, general cargo, steel coil, chemical, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There was one vessel viz. MV Epic Sentosa carrying chemical expected to take berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Thursday. There were four ships namely CV MSC Candico, CV MSC Mars, MV Sea Fortune and MT Khor Gas carrying containers, chemical and LPG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Blue Whale and CV Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while three more ships namely CV Virgo, CV MSC Desire and CV Cape Mayor carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
