Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 214,462 tonnes of cargo comprising 176,168 tonnes of import cargo and 38,284 tonnes of export cargo including 5,072 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 176,168 tonnes comprised of 41,245 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,260 tonnes of bulk cargo; 40,933 tonnes of coal and 87,730 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,284 tonnes comprised of 26,998 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,501 tonnes of wheat and 3,485 tonnes of wheat (gandum). As many as 5,072 containers comprising of 2,553 containers import and 2,519 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,124 of 20's and 706 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 08 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 721 of 20's and 307 of 40's loaded containers while 316 of 20's and 434 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Kota Layar, Kota Kasturi, MSC Hina, YM Wealth, Hansa Regensburg, Bochem Mumbai and Fairchem Katana carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. Hansa Regensburg, GSL Tianjin, MOL Explorer, Al Mahboobah, Ocean Shappire-1, Reem-3, Willet, Naess Intrepid, Panvision, Nord Bering and Kiran Australia carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat, sugar, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

A cargo volume of 196,934 tonnes comprising 166,119 tonnes of import cargo and 30,815 tonnes of export cargo including 3,800 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 166,119 tonnes includes 39,139 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,950 tonnes of palm oil; 57,445 tonnes of coal; 5,230 tonnes of chemical; 455 tonnes of project cargo and 58,900 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,815 tonnes includes 11,952 tonnes of talcum powder; 5,563 tonnes of wheat and 13,700 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,800 containers comprising of 3,100 containers import and 700 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely MT Bunga Alamanda carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four ships namely CV CMA CGM Al-Maviva, MV Engiadina, MV Bunga Lily and MT Red Eagle carrying containers, coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Nerval, CV CMA CGM Al-Maviva, MV Soho Trader, MV Pacific Action, MV Riva Wind, MV IVS Beach Wood, MV Maritime Setoshio, MV Engiadina, MV Bunga Lily, MT Red Eagle, MT Alamanda and MT Thong Long were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, talcum powder, project cargo, wheat, coal, diesel oil, palm oil and palm kernel respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eighteen ships namely CV Adamastos, MV Ocean Sapphire, MV Athos, MV Pacific Talent, MV Navios Achilles, MV IVS Windsor, MV GH Citation, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Gattara, MT Alpine Penelope, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Jo Pinari, MT Glorious, UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham, MT Sun Ploeg, MT NCC Maha, MT Wealthy Bay and MT Maersk Bright carrying containers, bitumen, steel coil, coal, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Adamastos, CV Uni Florida, MT Al-Gattara and MT Wealthy Bay carrying containers, LNG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. There were nine ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV Maersk Kinloss, CV APL Miami, CV Amalthea, CV Libra, MV Bulk Lily, MT Al-Shamal, MV Pan Glrois and MT Glorious carrying containers, chemical, steel products, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV Adamastos, CV GSL Tianjin and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely MSC Tiger carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday. There are two ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena and CV Maglala carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Monday.
