In an effort to resolve differences, the former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali met Punjab Chief Minister and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, here on Monday and exchanged views on wide ranging issues including party affairs, country's current political situation, future caretaker set-up and other political issues.
In the meeting, which lasted for over 45 minutes at Model Town, Nisar shared his concern with Shahbaz Sharif about some elements within the ranks of the PML-N, sources said. "You should stay with the party," Shahbaz was quoted as saying having to Nisar by sources privy to the meeting.
Both the leaders also discussed matters of mutual interest including those pertaining to strengthening the party at grass root level. It may be noted that Chaudhry Nisar, who has been associated with the party for over three decades, had stayed away from the party after disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court.
The sources claimed that Nisar also apprised Shahbaz Sharif about his grievances related to some PML-N leaders. However, both Nisar and Shahbaz agreed to resolve the disputes through mutual consultation, the sources said.
Nisar had strong opinion that confrontation should not occur between institutions as it is by no means beneficial for democracy and national stability.
Shahbaz Sharif was of the view that the PML-N has always talked about unity among institutions and will continue on this policy however; every institution should work within its jurisdiction. Nisar has already expressed his desire to extend working relation with party while making it clear at the same time that he would bid farewell to political career in the PML-N if party becomes housemaid.
