Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday claimed that cases have been made against him to prevent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from winning the next general election.
Talking to media persons after appearing before the Accountability Court hearing corruption cases against him and his family members, Sharif said that the PML-N will win next general election despite all conspiracies against his party.
He said that some people do not want the PML-N to win the election. "God has His own plans. Man proposes and God disposes," he remarked.
Sharif said that clever tricks of joint investigation team (JIT) that probed Panama Papers case against him have been exposed.
The former prime minister said that he is appearing before the court and did not boycott it. Sharif said earlier he was thinking not to contest these cases but it was right decision to appear before the court as JIT's lies and Panama bench's decision would not have been exposed.
He said that JIT head Wajid Zia and key prosecution witnesses failed to disclose any corruption against him. There is no charge of corruption against him but the proceedings in cases are still underway, he added.
Sharif claimed, "Questions regarding what we stole, from where we stole and how much was stolen were not answered which proves that verdict was only based only Iqama and the supposed salary."
