In a bid to evolve joint strategy for the forthcoming general elections, Functional Muslim League (FML) Chief Pir Pagara called on PML-Quaid's President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain at his Gulberg residence on Wednesday. During the meeting, the country's political situation, upcoming general elections 2018 and unification of different factions of the Muslim League excluding N-League were discussed, said the sources.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, Mohammad Ali Durrani, Kamil Ali Agha and others were present during the meeting. Both the leaders discussed the possibility of forming a grand alliance of different like-minded parties to contest the 2018 general elections, they said. "Shujaat and Pir Pagara expressed the resolve to work together for the unity of disgruntled leaders."
It may be added that Chaudhry Shujaat and Pir Pagara had made efforts in the past for unity of different Leagues and a committee was also formed. Chaudhry Shujaat had met angry and like-minded parties leaders to bring all the Leaguers on a single platform but he had failed in his efforts.
During the meeting with Pir Pagara, Shujaat said that unity of Leaguers was necessary, especially in the country's prevailing situation. He admitted that some Leaguers were creating hindrances in the way of unity of PML factions. The sources claimed that Chaudhry Shujaat and Pir Pagara would meet like-minded leaders in coming days to form a grand alliance for the 2018 general elections.
