Awami Muslim League (AML) president Sheikh Rashid once again claimed on Monday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will go to prison, adding that Sharif's politics will be finished before the general election.
Talking to the media here, Sheikh Rashid said elections can be delayed till December this year. He feared that some tragedy may happen in the country before the general election. The AML chief said Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will hold the general election.
Separately, speaking at a ceremony in Lahore, Rashid said, "Nawaz and PML-N politics is based on lies and the day Nawaz starts speaking truth, his politics would come to an end."
The AML chief further said during the past, party leaders used to act as party workers, but now party leaders only prioritize tickets. He added, "We have faced imprisonment for upholding truth and honesty." Taking a jab at the government, Rashid said the PML-N government is talking about development while there is no clean drinking water, the public is being provided adulterated milk, underemployment is at peak and there is severe energy crisis. He also criticized the judicial system of the country saying, "It is too slow and the cases are heard over generations." He added that country's youth does not have a leader they could trust anymore.
Rashid said house of Hamza Shahbaz Sharif was just 200 yards away from the Ejaz-ul-Hassan's house, if bullet can be fired at judge's residence, it can be fired at Shahbaz Sharif's house too.
He alleged that Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala was killed by hanging him with a fan and now ruling party is threatening courts, saying that the ruling party is doing all this because within next 6 weeks accountability court is to deliver verdict in various cases against Nawaz Sharif and his family.
On a question he said he is standing by his earlier statements that Nawaz Sharif will be sent to jail.
On another question regarding a case against him, Rashid said his case was not regarding Article 62(1)(f), claiming that he was not involved in money laundering or corruption. He claimed that he never lied on assets and never evaded taxes. He said if apex court gives decision against him, he will not scream. However he said earlier Election Commission of Pakistan has cleared him of all the charges.
