The Supreme Court Wednesday handed over the custody of three girls to their Lithuanian mother for one month with the observation that a guardian judge will monitor the children during their stay with their mother. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard a petition filed by Maimouna Liskauskaite, seeking custody of her three daughters from her ex-husband Jamshed Siddique.
Maimouna's counsel Chaudhry Faisal informed the court that the court in last hearing had directed for arranging girls' meeting with their mother. He told that girls are not respecting their mother as they are brainwashed due to constant interference of Jamshed's family. The Chief Justice said some time would be required as there had been no communication between the mother and children for seven years.
At the onset of hearing, the court noted that it has been established that Jamshed Siddique had kidnapped his daughters from Dubai and brought them to Pakistan without knowledge of the children's mother. The court also directed police to register a case against Siddique on the charges of kidnapping. However, on the request of Siddique's counsel, who pleaded mercy for his client, the court withdrew the order, asking the girls' father to make his attitude positive.
The court was adjourned for three weeks. Liskauskaite had converted to Islam from Christianity and married a Pakistani citizen Jamshed Siddique in 2004 in Lithuania. Later, in 2010, Siddique along with his spouse and three daughters moved to Dubai and settled there.
