Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Thursday welcomed Islamabad High Court (IHC) verdict against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Asif, saying another 'darbari' has been disqualified. Soon after the IHC verdict, he took to Twitter and said that another 'darbari' has been disqualified. He added that the disqualification bore the same pattern pertaining to using Iqama (work permit) to shield corruption and indulge in money laundering apart from being guilty of conflict of interest.
Imran further alleged that Asif targeted Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and therefore he has been publicly humiliated abroad as well.
"Another darbari of the Godfather disqualified on the same pattern - using Iqama to shield corruption and indulge in money laundering - as well as being guilty of brazen conflict of interest. Kh Asif targeted SKMTH & has been publicly humiliated here & abroad," he tweeted.
The remarks come after the IHC disqualified Asif under Article 62(i)(f) of the Constitution for the non-disclosure of his employment as an occupation and the monthly salary he was receiving.
The three-member bench, announcing the verdict, stated that Asif was not even qualified to contest polls in 2013. The registrar was also directed to send a copy of judgment to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the speaker of the National Assembly to de-notify Asif as member of the Parliament.
