Prices of essential kitchen items remain stable

Prices of essential kitchen items remained stable during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed, here on Saturday. The survey observed that onion price witnessed no change which is available at Rs 120 per 5kg in the wholesale market while these are being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg in the retail market; potato price reduced from Rs 100 to Rs 90 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg, while tomatoes price remained unchanged at Rs 120 per 5kg and it was available at Rs 35 per kg in the retail market.
Local garlic price came down from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 230 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 70 per kg while Chinese garlic price went down from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 430 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 120 per kg. Ginger price went down from Rs 800 per 5kg to Rs 750 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 210 per kg against Rs 220 per kg. Local lemon price further went down from Rs 10,50 per 5kg to Rs 650 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 250 per kg while Chinese lemon price remained stable at Rs 1000 per 5kg which is being sold at Rs 250 per kg.
The survey observed that prices of all the major pulses remained stable as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 120 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 170 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 100-120 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 100 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) was being sold at Rs 100 per kg.
Price of live chicken remained stable at Rs 5,700 per 40kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, and chicken meat price remained at Rs 320 per kg. The eggs prices in wholesale market went up from Rs 77 per dozen to Rs 80 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 88 per dozen against Rs 85 per dozen. Mutton and beef prices witnessed no change as mutton was being sold at Rs 850 per kg and beef was available at Rs 450 per kg.
Packed milk prices also remained unchanged as a carton of 9 liter milk was being sold at Rs 1,300 per carton, cooking oil/ghee also witnessed no change as a 5 liter tin of best quality cooking oil tin of 5 liters was being sold at Rs 880 per tin, while Lipton tea price remained stable at Rs 840 per kg. Moreover price of most of other non-perishable food items remained stable as best quality rice was available at Rs 130 per kg, wheat-flour at Rs 750 per 20kg bag and sugar was being sold at Rs 55-60 per kg.
Capsicum price went down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 160 per 5kg in wholesale market while in retail market it was sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 45-50 per kg; peas price went down from Rs 280 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 70 per kg in retail market; price of taro (arvi) went down from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 65 per kg; carrot price went up from Rs 130 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 35 per kg and price of a pack of 8kg radish went up from Rs 150 per pack to Rs 180 per pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 30 per kg.
Bean price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 55-60 per kg, okra price remained stable at Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 75 per kg, price of ridge gourd (tori) further went down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 65 per kg. Turnip was available at Rs 100 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg, Maroo kadu at Rs 130 per kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg, cauliflower piece remained stable at Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg and cabbage price also witnessed no change which was available at Rs 120 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold Rs 25 per kg.
Brinjal price remained stable at Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45-40 per kg, cucumber price further went up from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 170 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Fruit prices witnessed a mixed trend as good quality local banana price went up from Rs 90 per dozen to Rs 100 per dozen, normal quality from Rs 60 to Rs 80 per dozen, while Indian banana price went down from Rs 220 per dozen to Rs 190 per dozen. Good quality guava was available at Rs 90 per kg and its normal quality was available in the range of Rs 60-70 per kg. Various qualities of orange were available in the range Rs 80-180 per dozen against Rs 120-300 per dozen with normal Kino being sold at Rs 80 per dozen against Rs 120 per dozen and special blood at Rs 180 per dozen while other qualities oranges are no more available.
Best quality strawberry was being sold at Rs 150-175 per kg and normal strawberry at Rs 100 per kg, while Chinese pear's price went down from Rs 225 per kg to Rs 210 per kg. Normal quality white apple was being sold at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kalu apple at Rs 160 per kg, Iranian Kala Kalu apple at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 180 per kg, golden apple at Rs 120 per kg, ambari apple at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, while Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-280 per kg. Melon was being sold at Rs 50 per kg, new arrival water melon at Rs 50 per kg, white melon at Rs 40 per kg and loquat was available at Rs 110 per kg.
