Almost 214 graduates awarded degrees at KMU

Around 214 graduates of various disciplines were conferred degrees during the 4th convocation of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, held on Monday. According to details, one PhD in Pharmacology, 21 MPhil in different subjects of Basic Sciences, four MPH, one MSc Epidemiology & Bio Statistics, three MHPE, 22 MBBS, 29 BDS, one MSPT, 29 DPT, 24 BS Nursing and 54 students of BS paramedics were awarded with degrees, whereas 69 gold medals were also awarded to the students of various programmes.
In the MBBS programme, Ijaz Ahmed Khan of KMU-IMS Kohat was awarded as best graduate with nine gold medals whereas Sobia Awais of KIDS Kohat was conferred with 11 gold medals as best graduate in BDS programme.
Secretary to Health Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abid Majeed was chief guest on the occasion. Besides, the university Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Arshad Javaid, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Jawad Ahmad, Registrar Professor Dr Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, Deans, faculties, heads of constituent institutes, a large number of the graduated students and their parents were also present on the occasion. Abid Majeed while speaking on the occasion urged the graduating students that they will serve the humanity with missionary zeal.
Earlier, addressing at the convocation VC KMU, Professor Dr Arshad Javaid has said that KMU was the fourth best ranked Medical University in Pakistan and our aim is to make it the best medical university and for it to assume a leadership role in health professionals education in the country.
He said that KMU has taken a leadership role to be the first in the country to offer a postgraduate programme in family medicine in the days to come. He said they are collaborating with scientific societies and sister institutions to make KMU a center of knowledge dissemination in addition to a source of knowledge generation.
