Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan has directed all senior police officers to devise a foolproof security plan for the upcoming sacrificial celebration of Shab-e-Barat and the holy month of Ramazan.
The provincial police chief issued these directives while addressing a video-link conference of Regional Police Officers (RPOs) at the Central Police Office (CPO) here on Monday. Additional IG D&I Ejaz Hussain shah, CCPO Lahore Amin Wains, DIG Legal Abdul Rub Chaudhry, DIG Operations Lahore Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG Telecommunications Shahid Javed, AIG Operations Imran Mehmood and SP Security Ammara Athar besides several other cops attended the conference.
"A comprehensive security plan should be devised for mosques, imambargahs and other congregational sites in the wake of upcoming Shab-e-Barat and Ramazan-ul-Mubarak," the IGP said, adding that snipers and commandoes in plain clothes should be deployed at all sensitive worship places while search, sweep, combing, and intelligence-based operations should also be carried out in the vicinity of such sites. He warned that no delaying tactics will be tolerated in the registration of complaints at 8787 cell for prompt redressal. The RPOs should ensure monitoring of all complaints received through the 8787 cell, he directed.
During the conference, the IG was informed that the security plan for almost 32585 mosques and imambargahs have been completed by dividing into three categories which include A, B, and C before Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. For the purpose, over 65000 cops including volunteers will be deputed to ensure five-tier security for prayers and Traweeh.
