'Farmers not being paid price of sugarcane set by government'

Legislators of opposition benches in Punjab Assembly (PA) expressed their concerns over exploitation of farmers, claiming they (farmers) were being exploited through different tactics and not being paid the price of sugarcane set by the government. They also claimed that 20 per cent sugar cane crop was still in the fields. They said that now the process of buying of wheat crop has started and the farmers were facing same problems like exploitation at the hands of middleman and land lords.
Speaking on the point of order Sardar Shahbudin Khan, Mian Aslam Iqbal demanded that government should evolve the process of buying wheat from the growers.
Earlier, the session started two hour late under the chair of speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal. The answers regarding departments of Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering were given by minister energy Chaudhry Sher Ali.
The opposition MPA's Faiza Malik and Arif Abbasi criticized government for not solving the issues of Chemists, druggists and retailers of medicines who were on strike in Punjab against the new amendment in the drug act. The chemists also blocked the mall road in front of the Punjab Assembly.
While responding to the criticism of the opposition benches minister for human rights and minority affairs Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that government has started negotiations with the chemists and stressed his hope that issue will be resolved in one or two days.
Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmood ur Rashid on point of order criticized former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that his government had done nothing. During his speech members of treasury benches started chanted slogans against PTI leadership. The session was adjourned by the speaker till 2 on Wednesday.
