Instagram’s Boomerang feature was already very popular for users, and now parent company Facebook has decided to introduce it in Messenger too, along with a new selfie mode and support for AR stickers.
Social media platform Facebook recently announced about its handful of new feature it is bringing in its Messenger app. The features include the most popular Boomerang mode that was introduced in Instagram a couple of years ago, selfie mode, and support for AR stickers.
Since Facebook is Instagram’s parent company, Boomerang feature being included in Messenger isn’t really surprising. The feature, as per Slash Gear, is being added as a new mode where the user will be able to take a burst of pictures together to form a one second video, or animated GIFs.

The new Selfie Mode for Messenger’s camera will give user a software-created portrait effect on the selfies, where the subject of the picture is in focus and the background is blurred. As per Facebook, the Selfie Mode will add a ‘little extra glow’ to subjects.
The AR stickers feature will be able to drop stickers in the pictures and videos by selecting the sticker the user wishes to use and then tapping the camera icon that pops up next to it. Facebook also said that it will add new holiday-themed masks and filters for Christmas and New Year’s.
The features will go live across majority of Android and iOS users, but a complete release might take a couple of days to arrive.
