A job fair at the Government College University Lahore Thursday received an overwhelming response as thousands of university graduates and final year students flocked to the reputed international and national organizations.

As many as 42 noted organizations including, IT firms, NGOs, manufactures, textile industry, and ecommerce websites set up their stalls at the Job Fair and offered more than 1200 internship and permanent placement opportunities to the university's students and graduates. The stalls of ecommerce websites and clothing brands remained the center of attraction at the Fair.
The companies conducted on-campus interviews and short-listed candidates for different positions, and also offered them internship opportunities.
Addressing the concluding ceremony, Hamid Zaman, the CEO of Sefam | Bareeze said mostly short listed students had similar CVs, but employers always prefer those who have positive attitude, good communication skills and moreover a passion to do something in their life. "I often feel that the pride of doing something is missing from our youth. They are always eager to know that what they are going to get from job they are interviewed instead of planning to bring something new and better to their work," he added.
Zaman advised students to strive for excellence and then wait for the returns. He said universities should develop strong liaison with industries, adding that degrees and curriculums rapidly become stale due changing industrial requirements. She also shared his success story with the students.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah said such job fair played crucial role in bridging the gap between the universities and industry, and also helped them understanding modern market demands.
