Anti-polio drive in high-risk districts of KP, Fata begins today

A three-day anti-polio campaign will begin in seventeen high-risk districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA from today (Monday). During the campaign, about 5.5 million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops.
More than eighteen thousand teams have been deputed which will visit door to door to ensure administering anti-polio drops to all children up to five years of age. Special security measures have also been taken to avoid any untoward incident during the campaign. According to Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the three day special anti-polio drive will continue till May 9, for which qualified health workers comprised on 14320 teams in the province, including 11,902 mobile, 1,097 fixed, 788 transit, and 264 roaming.
As many as 3,080 area incharge would supervise the three-day polio campaign. Besides, local population, the IDPs children will also be administered polio drops in more than 68 refugees camps.
Polio teams will also be available at railway stations, bus stands and other public places to ensure administering anti-polio drops to each and every child. Special security measures have been taken for security of polio teams.
Earlier, chairing a meeting EOC KP Atif Rehman said that the provincial government is utilizing all available resources under comprehensive program for elimination of polio from the province, resultantly, availed remarkable achievements in this regard.
