Portugal's Joao Sousa became the first home player to win the Estoril Open title as he defeated Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday's final. It was a third career title for Sousa from his 10th final. The 29-year-old, ranked 68th in the world, also won Valencia in 2015 and at Kuala Lumpur five years ago.
Sousa provided some drama at the end, dropping serve as he tried to close out the match, but two games later he got the job done. American Tiafoe, 20, was thwarted in his bid to collect a second career title after making his trophy breakthrough in February at Delray Beach, Florida.
