The Turkish lira weakened against the dollar in early Monday trade, hit by global strength in the US currency in addition to persistent concerns about the central bank's ability to rein in double-digit inflation. The lira dropped as far as 4.2715 against the dollar from a close of 4.2325 on Friday. It touched a low of 4.2901 at the end of last week before rebounding in late trade and has weakened 11 percent against the dollar this year.
