Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 351,892 tonnes of cargo comprising 220,073 tonnes of import cargo and 131,819 tonnes of export cargo including 8,088 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 220,073 tonnes comprised of 111,640 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,070 tonnes of soyabean meal; 4,474 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 98,889 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 131,819 tonnes comprised of 64,337 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,806 tonnes of bulk cargo; 32,440 tonnes of clinkers, 22,528 tonnes of wheat; 9,208 tonnes of wheat (Gandum) and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 8,088 containers comprising of 2,653 containers import and 5,435 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,083 of 20's and 757 of 40's loaded while 18 of 20's and 19 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 976 of 20's and 457 of 40's loaded containers while 645 of 20's and 1,450 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Northern Dedication, Wan Hai-510, APL Japan, Arendal, Spring Ploeg, Kiran Bosphorus and Blue Bird carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, wheat and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were thirteen vessels viz. Virgo, Hyundai Faith, Wan Hai-510, Spring Ploeg, Al Mahboobah, Flagship Tulip, RBD Anema E Core, Asbong-1, Intrepid Republic, Laural Island, Yuntong-201, ASL Gallant and Kalho Go-35 carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat, chemical and barge respectively currently at the berths.

A cargo volume of 195,964 tonnes comprising 156,596 tonnes of import cargo and 39,368 tonnes of export cargo including 4,187 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 156,596 tonnes includes 9,929 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,306 tonnes of palm oil; 39,853 tonnes of coal; 17,256 tonnes of canola seeds; 18,191 tonnes of mogas and 40,185 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,368 tonnes includes 39,368 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,187 containers comprising of 2,115 containers import and 2,072 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were five ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Prosper, CV CMA CGM Estelle, MV YM Jupiter and MV Thor Insuvi carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning. A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Prosper, CV CMA CGM Estelle, MV Zhen Bang, MV Thor Insuvi, MV BW Cobalt, MV YM Jupiter, MV Islander, MT Jo Pinari and MT Silver Emily were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, coal, chemical, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely CV MSC Ishyka, CV MSC Joanna, MV Da Chang, MV Industrial Dolphin, MV MG Hammont, MV White Hawk, MV Thassos, MV Parnasos, MV Thor Insuvi, MV MI Harmony, MT Maria-III, MT Nord Bay, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Constantinos, MT Argent Aster, MT Corona and MT UACC Riyadh carrying containers, project cargo, soyabean, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV MSC Ishyka, CV MSC Joanna, MV Devon Trader, MV Da Chang, MV Industrial Dolphin, MV MI Harmony and MT Nord Bay carrying containers, project cargo, coal and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Detroit and CV Express Kenchenjunga carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
