Open House and Job Fair 2018 was held at NUST College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (CEME), Rawalpindi, on Tuesday. Renowned scientist former Chairman NESCOM and former Member Science & Technology Planning Commission of Pakistan Dr Samar Mubarakmand graced the occasion as chief guest. In his address he emphasised on further strengthening industry-academia relationships for rapid scientific and technological development in the country.
He highlighted the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial culture in Pakistan. He said collaboration between industry and academia based on technological input by students and faculty can transform our economy. The chief guest took a keen interest in the students' projects in areas of Radars, Unmanned Air & Ground Vehicles, Robotics, Prosthetic Limbs, Biomedical Applications, Vehicle Monitoring & Management Systems, and Automotive Technology & Indigenous Software Development for engineering applications. He highly appreciated the work done by young engineers and congratulated CEME faculty and students for displaying high-quality innovative projects.
Commandant NUST CEME Brigadier Tariq Javed, in his speech, highlighted the achievements of the college's faculty and students, and enumerated quality traits of the graduates of NUST CEME; he specifically mentioned the National Centre of Robotics & Automation, which will be inaugurated at CEME in the near future. He expressed the hope that these initiatives will be fully supported through industrial collaboration.
The objective of NUST CEME Open House & Job Fair was to provide an opportunity to graduating students to interact with potential employers and share their mutual interests. More than 360 students exhibited over 125 Final Year Projects related to Electrical, Mechanical, Computer & Software and focusing on practical solutions to engineering problems.-PR
